Grablegung und Auferstehung Christi (Inv.-Nr. GG 6796) stammen von der Predella (Basis) des großen Flügelaltars des Stifts St. Florian in Oberösterreich, dem Hauptwerk Altdorfers. Während die übrigen Tafeln in St. Florian blieben, gelangten diese, den Passionszyklus abschließen den Bilder ins KHM. Räumliche Tiefe erzeugt der Maler durch das Nebeneinander verschiede ner Maßstäbe: Die großformatigen Gestalten Mariens und Johannes im Vordergrund kontrastieren mit den kleinen Figuren im Mittelgrund, die Christus ins offene Grab legen.
The Entombment and Resurrection (Inv. No. GG 6796) are from the predella (base) of the large winged altar at the Abbey of St. Florian in Upper Austria, which is Altdorfer's principal work. While the other panels remained in St. Florian, these two, which complete the cycle of the Passion, came to the KHM. The painter created spatial depth by juxtaposing different scales: the large format figures of Mary and John in the foreground contrast with the small figures placing Christ in the open tomb in the middle ground.
