The figures of the Virgin Mary and the Archangel Gabriel are distinguished by their elongated proportions and the gentle curve of their bodies. The attempt to delineate the body through the garment structure and the sensitive layering of the clothing is remarkable. Different modeling of the fold structures and distinct facial features indicate these figures are the work of two separate sculptors from the same masons' lodge. It is likely that this workshop had probably previously been involved in the construction of the Saint Lawrence Church in Nuremberg.
