Maria mit Kind und den hll. Martin und Antonius Abbas

Hoheitsvoll erscheint Maria auf einem marmornen Thron, dessen Podest ein kostbarer Teppich bedeckt. Zu ihren Füßen stehen der heilige Antonius Abbas in schwarzer Kutte und der heilige Martin, Bischof von Tours. Das Gemälde malte der nach seiner Heimatstadt benannte Meister für die Kirche San Martino in Rosai bei Feltre. So erklärt sich die prominente Darstellung des heiligen Martin, der sich dem Betrachter zuwendet und ihn durch den direkten Blick kontakt in die himmlische Konversation integriert.

The Virgin Mary appears majestically on a marble throne, with an exquisite carpet covering the pedestal. St Anthony Abbot in a black habit and St Martin, the Bishop of Tours, stand at her feet. Named after his native town, the master painter Bassano executed this work for the church of San Martino in Rosai near Feltre. This explains the prominence of St Martin who is turning towards the viewer, thus integrating him in the divine dialogue through direct eye contact.
