Die Einzelformen des Aktes in diesem Werk erinnern an gleichzeitig entstandene Skulpturen des Künstlers. Dazu trägt auch der modellierende grau-braune Farbauftrag bei, mit dem Picasso die Oberflächenbehandlung seiner Gipse nachahmte. Die biomorphe Deformation, mit der Picasso hier das Thema behandelte, fand sich zur gleichen Zeit in Werken der Malerkollegen Dali, Tanguy, Miró und Arp.
