Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene, cloaked in shimmering silver, stands before Christ's empty tomb as the dawn rises on Easter morning. She is identified by the glimpse of her traditional red dress beneath her cloak and by an ointment jar. The play of light on the Magdalen's clothing and the Venetian lagoon in the background is very typical of Savoldo.
