The Good Samaritan
In a parable, Christ described how a traveller was attacked by robbers and left for dead. A priest and Levite passed him by, but a Samaritan stopped and cared for him, using the oil and wine shown here in flasks (Luke 10: 25-38). The priest and Levite can be seen on the left. The distant city behind them is the artist's native Bassano.
