With her back turned on us, a nude woman performs her part in a love triangle. She avoids the enraptured gaze of her bearded suitor to look at the younger, more finely dressed man, who in turn looks away. A note, presumably a love letter, passes between them. Their animated poses are echoed in the undulating forms of the trees, as if in a dance to the music of love played by winged cupid at lower left.
