The Cornfield

A boy drinks from a stream and a sheepdog guides his flock along a lane sheltered by trees. Harvesters are at work in the cornfield beyond. The scenery is based on Fen Lane near East Bergholt in Constable's native Suffolk, although some details, like the church tower in the distance, are invented.
