Stratford Mill

A group of boys are shown fishing on the River Stour in Constable's native Suffolk, watched by a young girl in a red skirt. Stratford Mill (far left), on an island in the river, was used for making paper. For Constable the depiction of the light-filled sky was the most important and challenging aspect.
