Louveciennes is a village to the west of Paris where Pissarro lived in 1869-70. On the horizon are the ruins of the Marly aqueduct constructed in the 17th century to supply water for the nearby royal châteaux. Pissarro's works of this period are rare since most were destroyed when Prussian troops occupied Louveciennes in 1870.
