Judith in the Tent of Holofernes

Judith became a heroine when she killed Holofernes, enemy of the Israelites, with his own sword. Here she looks back over her shoulder at his decapitated body as she puts his head in a sack before leaving his tent. Liss, who was German but worked mainly in Venice, made several versions of the subject; this is the finest.
