A Landscape with a Ruined Castle and a Church

In the late 1660s Van Ruisdael, perhaps inspired by the example of Philips Koninck, painted a number of panoramic landscapes. Neither the church in the background nor the ruin in the right foreground has been identified. The view is probably imaginary, combining various details the artist had observed.
