A View on the Tiber, near the Ripa Grande, Rome (?)

This view shows the Ripa Grande, the old port of Rome, with the church tower of Santa Maria della Torre in the background. It is a slightly inaccurate recollection of the scene; some of the buildings seem to be wholly imaginary. Jan Both painted it soon after his return from Italy, where he had been living from about 1637.
