The Mass of Saint Hubert
Saint Hubert is consecrated as Bishop of Liège. He kneels as an angel appears with a stole for him. Behind him a deacon holds the saint's mitre and staff. The dog in the foreground was probably included because Saint Hubert was regarded as a protector against rabies.
With The Conversion of Saint Hubert (displayed alongside) this formed one of the inside shutters of an altarpiece for the Benedictine Abbey at Werden, near Cologne.
