Christ appearing to the Virgin
The resurrected Christ appears to his mother after descending into hell. Adam and Eve are shown behind Christ with John the Baptist and two figures, who may be Joachim and Anne, the Virgin's parents. This is one of a series of 27 devotional panels painted for Queen Isabella of Castile.
