Billardtisch

Die Faltperspektive und die Anordnung der Objekte um den Tisch herum sind das Ergebnis eines langsamen und methodischen Prozesses, mit dem Braque den Raumraum mit der flachen Oberfläche des Bildes in Beziehung setzte. Braque begann im September 1944 mit der Serie der sieben Billardtische. Zusammen mit den acht Bildern der Studio-Serie stellen sie das größte und letzte Hauptwerk des Künstlers dar.

The folding perspective and arrangement of objects around the table are the result of a slow and methodical process by which Braque related the space of the room to the flat surface of the picture. Braque began the series of seven billiard tables in September 1944. Together with the eight pictures of the Studio series, they represent the artist's largest and final major works.
