Die Konservierungsbehandlung hat das ursprüngliche Material, eine Art Kalkstein, zum Vorschein gebracht – und eine Reihe von Farbspuren, die an das ursprüngliche, farbenfrohe Erscheinungsbild erinnern. Es gibt Ähnlichkeiten zwischen diesem Relief und einem Terrakottastück aus der Kirche San Piero a Grado (Pisa) zum gleichen Thema, das Michelozzo, einem Donatello nahestehenden Künstler, zugeschrieben wird. Dennoch erinnern die Komposition und die aufwendig gearbeitete Drapierung an die Arbeit Donatellos und seines Gefolges in Norditalien ab 1443.

La restauration a révélé le matériau d'origine, une pierre calcaire, et de nombreuses traces de polychromie qui rappellent son apparence originale très colorée. Ce relief présente des affinités avec la terre cuite de même sujet attribuée à Michelozzo, artiste proche de Donatello, provenant de l'église San Piero a Grado à Pise. Mais la composition et le riche travail des drapés évoquent la production de Donatello et de son entourage en Italie du Nord à partir de 1443.

Conservation treatment has revealed the original material a type of limestone - and a number of colour traces reminiscent of the original highly colourful appearance. There are similarities between this relief and a terracotta piece from the church of San Piero a Grado (Pisa) on the same subject attributed to Michelozzo, an artist close to Donatello. Yet the composition and the intricately worked drapery recall the work of Donatello and his entourage in northern Italy from 1443 onwards.
