The Dream of Saint Helena

Saint Helena, mother of the Christian emperor Constantine, vowed to discover the Cross on which Christ was crucified. A vision of the Cross appeared to her in a dream, revealing its location. The low viewpoint suggests the painting should be viewed from below. It may have been made as an organ shutter.
