Portrait of a Young Man
This youth, dressed in black and holding a blank notebook, has been variously identified as the sculptor Pierino da Vinci, the painter Francesco Salviati, or a son of Cosimo de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. The sculpture of the god Bacchus with a satyr behind the pink curtain may hold the key to the sitter's elusive identity.
