A Knight with his Jousting Helmet
The sitter is probably Conte Faustino Avogadro. The brace on his left leg could relate to an injury or offset weakened ankle muscles - so-called 'foot drop'. This portrait may have been painted specifically to accompany the nearby work by Moretto, who was Moroni's teacher.
