The Lamentation at the Foot of the Cross

Christ's body is supported by his sorrowing mother. Other mourners include Mary Magdalene, dressed in yellow, John the Evangelist, in a red cloak, and on the right, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. The composition is based on Rembrandt's Lamentation over the Dead Christ (in Room 16).
