Venice: Piazza San Marco

The view, taken through an archway at the west end of Saint Mark's square, shows the basilica and bell tower straight ahead. On the right is the Procuratie Nuove, the chosen viewpoint for the pendant painting displayed nearby. Both views were painted after Canaletto's final return to Venice from England.
