Tobias and the Archangel Raphael returning with the Fish
The story is taken from the Book of Tobit in the biblical Apocrypha. The Archangel Raphael accompanied Tobias on a journey to collect a debt for his blind father, Tobit. He instructed Tobias to remove the innards of a fish, to restore his father's sight. The work is based on a lost painting by Elsheimer.
