Saint George killing the Dragon

Saint George charges at a dragon which has been terrorising a local town, shown in the background. The fleeing princess was to have been sacrificed to the beast. The story is recounted in Jacobus de Voragine's 14th-century compilation of saints' lives, The Golden Legend.
