The Graham Children

The children's father was Daniel Graham, apothecary to the royal household and to Chelsea Hospital. The baby sits in an elaborate gilded cart which could be pulled along. In the background on the left is a clock surmounted by a figure of Cupid with Time's scythe, a reference to mortality - the baby Thomas died before the picture was completed.
