A Personification of Fame

Fame is personified as a winged female figure holding two instruments. The golden trumpet in her left hand proclaims honourable fame, while the wooden wind instrument, a shawm, signifies infamy. Strozzi came from Genoa, where he was ordained a priest, but he moved to Venice in about 1631. He remained there for the rest of his life.
