Cardinal Carlo Cerri
This portrait was probably painted shortly after Carlo Cerri was made Cardinal and Bishop of Ferrara in 1669. The inscriptions on the book bindings identify the sitter and record some of the ecclesiastical positions he held. His expression has been sensitively captured by Jakob Ferdinand Voet, who was born and died in Antwerp but worked for several years as a portraitist in Rome.
