Saint Francis in Meditation
Saint Francis (1182-1226) wears the habit of the Capuchins, one of the branches of the Franciscan order that was especially active in Spain. He meditates on a skull. On his right hand he bears the stigmata, the marks of Christ's wounds, which he received at the end of his life.
