Christ taking Leave of his Mother

Christ blesses his mother, the Virgin, who has collapsed with grief. She has failed to prevent Christ departing with his apostles for Jerusalem, where he will be crucified. This was probably painted at the request of the family, depicted in miniature at lower right.
