Constantijn Huygens (1596-1687) served in various Dutch embassies and in 1625 became secretary to the Stadholder, Prince Frederik Hendrik of Orange. The objects on the table refer to his interest in music, astronomy and architecture. In addition Huygens also wrote about painting and composed poems.
