The Abduction of Helen
Helen, wife of King Menelaus of Sparta, is being carried off by Paris, together with other women, from the Temple of Apollo and Artemis in Cythera to a waiting ship. It was this action that precipitated the Trojan War. The panel was originally 12-sided and formed a desco da parto (a tray used to carry sweetmeats to women after childbirth).
