Christ Crucified
The cross is set in a verdant, undulating landscape beneath a hazy blue sky. At its foot, the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist contemplate the dead Christ. Figures approach from the distance, one carrying a ladder to remove the corpse for burial. The inscription added to the lower edge of the painting may once have formed part of the frame.
