A Bacchanalian Revel before a Term

Nymphs, shepherds and a satyr dance wildly in front of a garlanded term (a sculpted figure). The term may represent Pan, the god of woodlands, who was closely associated with Bacchus, the god of wine. Grape juice is squeezed into a cup held up by a putto (cherub). Numerous references to such revels occur in ancient literature.
