A Deerhound with Dead Game and Implements of the Chase

A lively hunting dog stands over a dead stag and heron, by a tree from which two hares and a gun hang. On the right a boy blows a hunting horn, alerting the dog that the chase continues. Weenix was court painter to the Elector Palatine in Düsseldorf. This scene may have been part of the decoration of the Elector's hunting lodge, Schloss Bensberg.
