The Judgement of Paris

Asked to decide the most beautiful of the three goddesses before him, Paris awarded the golden apple to Venus, goddess of love. Minerva, with her armour and owl, is on the left; Juno, her peacock at her feet, is on the right. Paris's choice ultimately led to the Trojan War, an event foreshadowed by the fury of War hovering in the clouds.
