This painting was perhaps part of the decoration of a music room. Other panels may have shown different musical instruments. Artists in the 15th century were interested in the challenge of capturing song in paint and the expressions of people singing. Here, Costa shows three singers in harmony. The two singers on either side are beating time on the marble parapet.
