Joseph with Jacob in Egypt

Part of a series of furniture decorations narrating the biblical story of Joseph, this picture seems to proceed with the logic of dreams. It combines scenes: at left, Joseph presents his father Jacob to Pharaoh while at right, seated on a chariot, he learns of Jacob's illness. Behind, he ascends a staircase with his two sons to attend Jacob's deathbed.
