Portrait of a Young Man

The man turns in his chair to look at us over his shoulder. This dynamic posture was derived from Venetian portraiture, notably that of Titian whose Gerolamo (?) Barbarigo, hangs nearby. We do not know who the sitter is. The lower left is damaged and hard to read, but the object he is holding is surely a book.
