Christ carrying the Cross

Stooping under the weight of a large wooden cross, Christ turns his gaze to the viewer as he strides forward on the road to Calvary. Lo Spagna was an artist of Spanish origin and an associate of Perugino. Together with its pair to the right, this was made as part of the same ensemble. They were probably the wings of a small altarpiece.
