This small devotional relief illustrates one of the main artistic movements in Italy around 1400, the International Gothic style, as is clearly apparent in Saint Catherine's elegant drapery and the courtly nature of the figures. The work has been attributed to Jean de Prindall, a sculptor working in Flanders, Burgundy and Savoy from 1372 to 1424.
