The Virgin Mary, in blue, Saint John the Evangelist, Saint Mary Magdalene and a Holy Woman are shown weeping glassy tears. It is likely that this picture was joined to an untraced panel showing the object of their mourning: the dead Christ. It was probably painted in Cologne, where Bruyn worked.
