The attribution of this triptych (three-panelled work) to Carlo Braccesco is not accepted by all art historians. It came from the Fregoso family oratory in Genoa, but was perhaps intended for the city's Carmelite church. The altarpiece originally featured a predella (lower part) and an upper part.
