Der süddeutsche Maler Erhart Altdorfer, ein Bruder Albrecht Altdorfers, folgte Herzog Heinrich dem Fried fertigen nach Mecklenburg und war von 1512-1552 dessen Hofmaler und Baumeister. In dieser Zeit malte Altdorfer verschiedene Tafeln für den Lübecker Maria Magdalenen-Altar (siehe Raum 9).
Die raumgreifenden, dynamischen Figuren des Erzengels Michael, der die Seelen beim Jüngsten Gericht wägt, und des Hl. Christophorus, der das Kind durch die Fluten trägt, weisen den typischen fein plissierten" Faltenstil der Donauschule auf.

The Southern-German painter Erhart Altdorfer, a brother of the more famous painter Albrecht Altdorfer, followed Duke Heinrich the Peaceful's call to Mecklenburg, where he became his court painter and master builder. During his period there he painted a number of panels for the Mary-Magdalen Altarpiece in Lübeck (see room 9).
The very sculptural, dynamic figures of the Archangel Michael weighing the souls at the Last Judgement, and St. Christopher carrying the Christ child through the floods, display the typical "fine-pleated" folding of the Donau School.
